Drivers Education - Summer 2026

 

Sargent Central Public School will once again offer Driver’s Education during the summer. Ms. Olson will serve as the instructor for both the classroom instruction and the behind-the-wheel training and observation.

Students must be at least 14 years old to participate in the program.

To successfully complete the course, students must complete a minimum of 42 hours of instruction, including:

  • 30 hours of classroom instruction

  • 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving

  • 6 hours of driving observation

Students who complete all requirements will earn ¼ high school credit.

Cost

  • $150 per student

Classroom Schedule

  • May 26th through May 29th

Tentative Daily classroom Time

  • 7:30 am to 3:30 pm

Certificates

  • Students will receive one of two certificates after completing Drivers Education at Sargent Central Public School

  • SFN 6968 Certificate of Training

    1. Identifies a student who successfully completed a minimum of 30 hours of classroom, and 6 hours of actual behind the wheel driver training and passed the final evaluation

    2. This certificate may be used to waive the North Dakota Class D road test

  • SFN 61232 ND Certificate of Training

    1. Identifies a student who completed a minimum of classroom and behind the wheel driver training to meet general driver education requirements

    2. This certificate identifies a student who did not meet the requirements for waiving the ND Class D road test and must be issued to a student the school has determined should be tested by a state driver’s license examiner

Road test waiver

  • On December 9th, 2019, the Sargent Central Public School driver’s education program was approved for the road test waiver authorized in NDCC 39-25 and NDAC 37-13

  • Students successfully completing the Playbook 30 hours of classroom training, 6 hours of actual behind-the-wheel training, and the final evaluation administered by the driver’s education teacher as offered at Sargent Central Public School will be approved to have the North Dakota Driver’s License Division Class D road test waived upon presentation of the North Dakota Certificate of Completion indicating the student has successfully completed all required training and evaluation

Stages

  • Permit: Minimum age of 14

  • Restricted License: Age 15-16

  • Unrestricted License: 16 and older
